I have found out more recently that Thomas Mounts settled and lived on the banks of the Ohio River at the mouth of Grants Creek, until his death in 1849. I am attempting to find where he was buried. I also now know that there is a cemetery by the name of Grant's Creek in Posey Township, but I have not been able to find a listing of those who are buried there. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I am searching for burials, single/or/concentrations of McMakin in and around Bennington. My great grandfather was Walter McMakin; also looking for burials of the LeClerc family who once once a business in Vevay before the turn of the 20th century. Do know that Walter McMakin's old homestead was once on Indian Creek near Bennington.

I have heard that my ancestor, John Wesley Leap, is buried in Switzerland Co., perhaps in Vevay. We are told that there is a monument on his grave that was donated by many in the county because he was a Revolutionary War soldier (perhaps of some notoriety?). John W. Leap, born in 1733, may be the grandfather of John W. Leap, who was enlisted in the Indiana Militia in 1862. Any help would be appreciated. Glenn-ruth@juno.com

I am a Shaw descendant (John - William - Archibald - Edward - Dorothy) I was wondering if anybody could transcribe the Shaw cemetery. I live in Florida and I have two small children. I wish I could fly up there and photograph my ancestors graves - if they are marked. Does anybody have any information on this cemetery? I don't even know where it's located or who is buried there. I am looking for information on Jeremiah Sheldon and Susannah Johnson who went to Indiana from Dutchess County NY perhaps around 1810-1820. Their son, David Sheldon was the father of my great, great grandmother, Laura F. Sheldon b.1852 Hamilton county, Ohio. To Loretta Swank
David Mead is buried in Union Cemetary. Mary Stout Mead is buried with her second husband, Burroughs W. Clark in the Lee [Methodist] Cemetery .
It was Elizabeth Mead who died in 1864. She is the wife of David and mother of Simon Shutt Mead.
David died in 1859.
Simon is my gggrandfather.
This information is from the book Switzerland Co. Indiana Cemetery Inscriptions 1817-1985

Looking for brother to my great-grandmother. He was born Dempsey Bosaw 8-13-1867 (according to his sister's bible). Changed name to John "Jack" Dempsey. Obit from Plainville said he was born 1869, was 62 when he died. Conflict of death: 1929 or 1931. Obit (which does not have a date on it) says he was taken to Vevay for burial. Would like to pinpoint death date so I can obtain death certificate. Most likely buried under name of "John (Jack) Dempsey" but I suppose "Dempsey Bosaw" is also possible. Any help much appreciated. Please contact privately at kclanin@fix.net, thanks. Karen Clanin

I'm interested in the Grant Brother's Cemetery: who is buried there; who established it; whose land is it located on, etc. Is there someone who knows anything about this cemetery?
| By Fred Gullion on Friday, February 04, 2005 - 03:11 pm: |
In answer to George Drew's question about the Gullion Cemetery and school house. The cemetery is located on the Leroy Patterson farm at the Indiana
side of the Markland Bridge. It is on private property. Mr Patterson has allowed me to see the grave yard but the stones are all piled against a tree near where the cemetery is located. I talked to the county Commissioners at one time about getting the cemetery cared for but that was a waste of time.
The old Gullion School house is long gone. It did set in the direct path of the approach to the bridge.
