Looking for records of the "German Lutheran
Church" of 1892 Madison. Valentine Knoll's
funeral was there. A stained glass window bearing
his name is in St. John's on Main St. Wondering if they are the same.

Looking for records of Ryker's Ridge Baptist Church and especially any info on The Lott and Orrill families or other families that married into the Lott family: Ryker, Phillips, Rea, Waddington.

Are there any baptism records? Death records?

Our website:http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/l/o/t/D-Lott/

Thanks,
Dee

Milton Baptist Church. Are these records available anywhere for research? My William Hall was a member of this church.

Ryker's Ridge Records do not got back very far. At least the records on microfilm at the library do not extend into the first half of the 19th Century. Baptists do not record baptisms in church records. Death records are occasionally recorded, but in most churches it's not systematic.

Milton Baptist Church records are available in typewritten form at the Madison library. I have a Copy, as do a few other people. What are you looking for?

By Bob Scott on Friday, November 17, 2000 - 03:36 pm:

What I should have said is that Baptists don't record infant baptisms, nor generally do records break out baptisms as a separate item. Since Baptist Churches accept members via adult baptism (often from ages 12 or 13) what you will find is that so-and-so is accepted by baptism. However, they may very well be listed in the minutes for the particular meeting and will be in a list of members accepted by letter or by experience, not just those accepted by baptism.

Looking for historical records of Presbyterian Church in Madison, IN, where my g-grandfather, Joseph H. Barnard, was minister from late 1880's to well after 1900.

Thank you for this web site and all the work that's gone into it!

My WHITSETT GGG-grandparents are in Pisgah Church Cemetary. Does their burial there mean they attended that church? If so, what kind of records would be available from the church?

I can't for the life of me find them in a census, so I thought maybe a church record might say something about where they lived, or maybe some other clue.

Any thoughts or direction would be greatly apppreciated!

Thanks,
Tim

We have located a relative who lived in Madison,
Ward 6, in the 1860 Jefferson Co. census. Also located him in the Madison City Directory, 1859-1860 as living: e s Broadway b Presbyterian Ave. and 5th. Would someone familiar with Madison be able to provide the name of the closest Catholic church to this address?

Thank you,

Pat Breno

I am searching for Maurice Wolfe. I believe he has passed away. I am told that Maurice was divorced and had five children. He was from the Madison Indiana area.
