Researching JOHN WEST, b.1748 d. 1833 Rev. War Soldier. He acquired land in Saluda twp on 17 July 1811. It was listed in Jeffersonville land office records. Were land grants issued in Indiana to Rev. War veterans?.
Secondly, I have photocopies of his Pension Application, dated 3 Sept. 1832, Jefferson Co. Indiana. I found these at the National Archives in Seattle. I also found a letter from a Mrs. T. W. Reed dated 1936. Both documents have information about his military service. Would you like copies? Dolores

Seeking documentation that John VAWTER was a colonel of the militia from 1817-1821. (This is according to family legend.) In 1808, he became the first Justice of the Peace of Madison, Indiana and later was a member of the Indiana state legislature and senate. He lived in Jefferson County until 1849, when he moved to Morgantown, Indiana.

I am compiling the history of the 1st German, 32nd Indiana Infantry. Company "B," known as the Madison Company, had three men by the name of Urlan. William Urlan was 1st Lieutenant, Frederick enlisted as a private and was corporal when transferred to Veterans Reserve Corp following wound at Stones River, and Julius was killed in action at Liberty Gap in June 1863. William resigned just after that, possibly due to wound. I need to verify a family connection. Can y'all help?

I am looking for information on the Richardson's Independent Company of the Indiana Infantry. My Gr-Gr-Grandfather, Hinson Gray, joined as a private at age 27, in 1862, but I can find no record of that company's service. Any help would be appreciated! Milton Township, Jefferson County was where the company was created I imagine.
