Obituaries - no dates given:

Once more the grim reaper with his sickle keen has come into our midst and removed from our community one of its aged pioneers.
On the evening of July 4th, 1940, just as the sun was slowly sinking beneath the horizon, the soul of Levi Parson stole from its frail tenement of clay and quietly winged its way into the Great Beyond.
Levi Andrew Parson, son of Joshua and Mary Elizabeth Parson, was the last surviving member of a family of eight children. He was born in Green township, Grant County, near the Antioch Church, on January 15, in the year 1856. Thus he had attained the age of 84 years, 5 months and 11 days.
He endured the privations and hardships of the early settlers ____ lived to see and enjoy man___ conveniences.
He was united in marriage to Amanda Jane Key on April 6, 1879. Thus they had lived and labored together for more than 61 years ___ ing many joys and sorrows ____. To this union were born seven children--five boys and two girls, five whom now survive; a son, Otto, and a daughter, Fern, having passed on.
They went to housekeeping near Herbst and have lived in both Howard and Grant counties. Mr. Parson was a farmer and he followed this occupation until about 13 years ago, when they came to their present home in Point Isabel.
In his declining years he had helped his companion to care for their garden, which contained not only vegetables but myraids of beautiful flowers of every hue and description, and he also occupied his spare time by doing handwork. Thus he had endeavored to earn and honest living for himself and his companion and even though his health had been very poor for some time he did not give up until only a few days ago.
He united with the Antioch Christian Church a number of years ago, where he is now a member.
He leaves to mourn his passing the widow, Amanda Jane; and five children: Mrs. Dessa Moore, Lafontaine; Glen, Jonesboro; John, Fairmount; Cecil, Converse; and Virgil, Greentown; also 21 grandchildren, several nephews and nieces, and many other neighbors and friends.
Father, for many years you have
       stayed with us,
In this land of pain and tears,
We have trod life's path's together,
There'll be a vacant place at home
Where father used to be,
And our hearts will often long
His loving face to see.
But we humbly bow our heads
And say, "Thy will be done."
The funeral service was held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, at the Antioch Christian Church, with burial in the Greentown I. O. O. F. cemetery.

[In an article above Levi Andrew Parson's obit., although partly missing, was the following]

"...Melton, Max Marshall, Gilbert Babb and Harold Planck went swimming in Kilgore's gravel pit, near Rigdon, and Ronald lost his high school class ring, presumably in the pit. The ring bore the number '30 and the initials R. E. M.
The boys searched for the ring for over an hour but were unable to find it.

About a year ago Skeet Marshall was talking to Keith Frey, who worked at the gravel pit, and asked him if they had ever found the ring.
Today, an Elwood man, who also works at the pit, found a ring in a scoopful of gravel which had been taken out of the pit. The initials, R.E.M. and the number '30 were engraved on it. Keith Frey remembered the talk with Skeet and he told the Elwood man of the conversation. But Keith, not knowing Ronald, couldn't tell the Elwood man anything except the conversation with Skeet about the lost ring.
The finder said if the owner could prove the ring belonged to him, he could have it.
The ring, so Keith reports, is in very good condition after lying in the gravel pit nine years or more."
