Charles Preston Jones, son of Hiram A. and Anna (Hardy) Jones, was born in Fairmount township, Grant county, January 12, 1868. He was educated in the public schools, and at the age of twenty-one engaged in farming. In religion he is a free thinker and in politics he is a Republican.

        On March 11, 1893, he was married to Nora Foster, daughter of Henry and Mary (Hazebecker) Foster, by whom he has four children, viz.: Harry, born April 18, 1894; Wilber, born December 3, 1896; Myrl, born November 18, 1897, and Emerson, born December 8, 1900. Mrs. Jones was born December 27, 1872. Her parents were from Delaware county, Indiana, where they have lived for a good many years. Her mother was born here and her parents came from Pennsylvania.
