McClanahan Family

Standing, left to right, my grandfather, Wilbur A. McClanahan, Cora Hammel Swain - a relative who served as housekeeper, the man on the right is unknown to me. (If anyone can identify him I would be glad for the information). Sitting are Wilbur's parents, Harvey McClanahan and Martha Hutton McClanahan.

Harvey was the son of Robert McClanahan who settled in Jefferson Co. about 1814. They were in front of the old McClanahan homeplace that was built on Walton Creek near Deputy. Wilbur was a school teacher and superintendant of schools in the Deputy area. Picture taken bef. Aug. 1897, when Martha died.
