Matthew Ralston Sr. was born Dec. 23, 1798, in Paisley Scotland, according to parish records. He came to the United States between 1818 and 1821, settling in Milton Twp., in Jefferson Co. He married Jannet/Jennet Witherspoon He died by May 13, 1843, when Janet asked to be named his administrator. She married second, John Graham. Jennet was christened March 24, 1803 in Paisley and died 23 June 1864 in Jefferson Co. The marriage date is not recorded in either Switzerland or Jefferson Co., but had to occur in Indiana. She is buried in Caledonia Presbyterian Church Cem. on the Jefferson/Switzerland Co. line. Matthew is apparently buried in an unmarked grave in a family cemetery in Milton Twp.
