Section 26 Twp. 4N Range 11E
by Robert W. Scott
The John Paul DAR transcriptions show two sets of burials in this cemetery. The first group is listed as "Copied from Lineage Memorial" by Sophia Sherlock. It appears to be based on burials this author knew had taken place on what was the Abner Bear farm in th 1940s. The second set, as noted, is based on transcriptions of actual stones. The 1900 Jefferson County property map shows that Sol. Bear owned 106.15 and 20-acre tracts in Section 26. These were in the NW1/4 and SW1/4 of Section 26. The Jefferson County Road Map does not show a cemetery in this section. The only road shown is these quarter sections is Shirks Hollow Road, which cuts through the SW1/4.
