Jefferson County: Brumbarger Cemetery, Milton Twp.

Brumbarger Graveyard

Milton Towwship
Sec. 12 Twp. 4N Range 11E

By Robert W. Scott

The John Paul DAR transcriptions show this cemetery as being on John Demaree's farm (in the 1940s.) Jefferson Co. Road maps indicate a cemetery in the NW1/4 of Section 12, just east of Scotts Ridge Road. A property map from the 1920s shows J. Demaree as owning land in this same location. This was once known as Brumbarger Ridge and is an extension of Scotts Ridge. One historical note: the listings of two men as sons of Mary and one as a son of Sarah Brumbarger below are probably correct. Both were members of the Milton Baptist Church where Sarah was disciplined for un-Christian conduct in November 1851 and for "pregnance" in February 1857.
