This cemetery was originally located in Section 33, T6N, R10E, Shelby Township, Ripley County, As it became a part of the Jefferson Proving Grounds land acquistion in 1941, the burials were relocated. Half of the graves were removed to Michigan Road, south of the Fairmount Cemetery, in Jefferson County; the other half, to a site south of Versailles, in Ripley County.

While surveying this cemetery, I compared the tombstone inscriptions against the D.A.R.'s cemetery list. The D.A.R. most likely surveyed this cemetery before it was moved to its present location.
