The Macedonia Baptist Church was organized at the home of David Danner in 1842 by the Rev. Archer Smith with meetings held first at private homes, then at a schoolhouse a mile and a half east of the present church. A log church was used from 1846-1871. The current church, made of creek rock, was built in 1878, according to the inscription over the door. Joshua and Nancy Culver sold land the NE 1/4 Section 18 Twp. 4N Range 12E to trustees Samuel Danner, William Danner and James M. Stewart on Nov. 18, 1871 (Jefferson Co. Deed Book 36 p. 13.) The church is located on Greenbriar Road and is active (2002). This transcription was made May 19, 2002 by Robert W. Scott, using the DAR transcriptions as a base. Corrections have been made to tombstones transcribed by the DAR. Entries with a single surname designate that the inscriptions are on a single stone. Where apparent couples do not share the same stone, but are buried adjacent to each other, the husband’s stone is listed first. Marriage dates copied from transcriptions come after other dates and are listed as such: M. Aug. 2, 1949.
