The Marble Valley Cemetery was affiliated with the Marble Church / Methodist Episcopal Church, and was located on the west side of the Jinestown Road, one half mile north of the Faulker Post Office, and one half mile south of the Jefferson-Ripley County line. On September 1, 1832, John Hensley obtained a patent from the Jeffersonville Land District Office for the east half of the northwest quarter of section 6, in what later became Monroe Township. Two years later, on Nov, 5, 1835, John Hensley sold out to Waller Hensley. On Mar. 25, 1858, Waller and Eliza, his wife, conveyed two acres, in the southeast corner of said quarter section, to Frederick Giddings, James G. Moor, Joseph Hamilton, James Craig, and Waller Hensley, trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The Hensleys specified that the trustees build or cause to be erected a house or place of worship; and, to set apart a portion of the lot to be used as a public burial ground. The burial ground was to remain under the management and control of the trustees and their successors. On Jun. 2, 1859, an article appeared in The Madison Courier announcing the opening of the Marble Church, a new Methodist Episcopal Church, located in the northwest corner of Monroe Township. The first service was held on Sunday, May 29th, 1859.

On May 19, 1941, the United States Government purchased the Old Marble Valley Church and Cemetery, as part of the land acquired for the Jefferson Proving Grounds. The trustees were Perry M. Corya and Arthur E. Irwin. A few months later, on Aug. 26, the Jefferson County Re-Interment Association, Inc. conveyed 1.5 acres in the 1400 block of Michigan Road to Perry M. Corya, Arthur E. Irwin and Silas A. Ferguson, trustees of the Marble Valley Cemetery, for the purpose of relocating the Marble Valley Cemetery.

An older church called Marble Creek, written as below by Bob Scott, was located on Marble Valley Rd., in Section 4, Monroe Township:

Marble Creek Church by Robert W. Scott, August 2001:
Marble Creek. Trustees elected on Feb. 25, 1851 were Ebenezer Large, Jacob Johnes [probably a bad spelling or reading of Jines], Dallas Hensley, Joseph M. Smith, and Nicholas Bain. (Mortgage Book 1849/50 p. 275) .
