To Jno. R. Cravens & John King
For grading & gravelling Mill Street opposite 10 foot alley - as per bill on file }          $8.00

The following report was presented from the City Surveyor - namely:

The undersigned begs leave to report -- That in obedience to the Order of the Committee on Streets & Wharves, he did proceed to survey and stake out an Addition to "Springdale Cemetery" belonging to the City of Madison as exhibited in a connected Map of said Cemetery herewith returned and made a part of this Report.
As the East boundary of said Addition is governed by the Land-line dividing Sections 34 & 35 Town 4 North of Range 10 East - therfore it became indispensably necessary to ascertain the location of said line as near as possible.
There being a Stone Memorial planted by Somebody on the Township line, appararently designed to mark the South East Corner of Section 34 and the South West Corner of Section 35 in Township 4 North of Range 10 East, from which last mentioned Stone Memorial numerous surveys and measurements have been made in the City; thereby tacitly recognizing said stone memorial as being correct; and the undersigned having no means under his control whereby he feels authorized to change the location of said Stone Memorial from its present location on the township line aforesaid, -taking as granted that the above described memorials are fixed and established, proceeded to ascertain the bearing of the line between Said Memorials, and find said line to bear North 3° 29' 34" West instead of North 4° 15' West as heretofore understood, consequently the true line falls 20 feet East of the North East corner of the Original Cemetery, measuring on the North line of the old Cemetery as heretofore laid out.
The Addition is laid out in conformity with the true land line, and placed on the Map connected with the Original Map to show the relation of each. The Addition consists of Eight tiers of lots 17 1/2 feet North & South by 24 1/2 feet East & West with an Eight foot Alley between each tier of lots. There is a 30 foot Street between the lots of the Old Cemetery and the present Addition, and an Eight foot Alley on the North side of said Addition. Lots numbered 171-172-193-194-215-216-236 & 237 and fractions having their sizes marked on them in figures. - The Avenue of the Old Cemetery is continued - being 40 feet wide and bearing North 9° 30' East at right angles to 5th Street. The lots are all staked at every Corner. The Block West of the Addition is only staked on the external lines - No further survey having been made of said Block. The Street South of this Block is 27 feet wide. - All of which is respectfully submitted by
