The plans and specifications for the chapel for Springdale Cemetery, to be built according to the provisions of the will of the late Mrs. Eliza B. Hubbard, have been received in the city and bids for the construction of the chapel will be advertised in a short time. The chapel will be 20 by 30 feet, with a vestibule about 8 by 10. The edifice will be of rough Bedford stone with a rough plaster to match. The architecture will be on Gothic lines and the interior of the chapel will present exposed rafters, similar to the plan of Christ church in this city.
The chapel will be located on the north side of Springdale cemetery near the foot of the hill, and will be at the head of the main thoroughfare running north and south. It will be surmounted with a bell, the gift of Mr. Edward L. McKee. The location of the edifice is an ideal one and doubtless will meet unanimous favor, and has the approval of Miss Mary Page and Mr. Robert Page, niece and nephew of the donor of the chapel. A drawing of the finished structure is on display in the show windows of Stanton's store.
The architect, Mr. Fred C. Wallick, was in the city today with Mr. and Mrs. Edward L. McKee and son, Mr. Hiram McKee, all of whom visited the site of the chapel and expressed themselves as pleased with the location. The party motored from Indianapolis yesterday in Mr. McKee's car.
