Switzerland County: Girard Family Reunion 1886

Last Sunday there was a pleasant family reunion at the residence of J. G. Grimes, in Craig township, among whom were four sisters and two brothers that had not met for forty years, the remainder of John Girard’s family who settled here at an early day. Many pathetic incidents were referred to, bringing forth tears but there were also many happy events referred to, bringing pleasant recollections and joyous laughter. Among those present were Stephen Girard, the oldest, born Sept. 7, 1809; Barnabas Girard, of Marshall County, lnd., Feb. 19, 1811; Mrs. Anna Pavey, Switzerland County, June 23, 1814; Mrs. Margaret J. Pavey, Decatur County, Ind., Feb. 17, 1811; Mrs. Elizabeth Cormick, Marshal county, lnd., March 12, 1818, Rutha Morris, Feb. 16, 1832, William, husband of Mrs. Morris, Sept. 9, 1829; J. J. Pavey, April 16, 1817, Decatur county, Ind., and many other relatives. Sunday evening the happy company adjourned to meet on Monday, at the residence of James S. Girard, in Vevay, where another pleasant day was spent. -
