To use any of these features you must register on MIH and then be signed in to use the features.

The reason we have people register in order to post on this web site, is to protect MIH from those nasty spammers and bots with their horrible messages and the havac that they cause. As it is, I have to delete their many registration attempts. To make sure I don't mistake your registraton as a spam and delete your request, please give some indication that you are a real researcher by the responses you give when registering.

****To post a Blog - Forum - or Page click on Create Content on the left side menu under your user name. You will only find "create content" if you are logged on.

I thought I might go over how and when you may use the blog, forum, page and comment features:

BLOG I think everyone is familar with what a blog is... your online journal where you write about your interests. Since MIH is a place to learn about Indiana, its history and citizens, the blogs on MIH should pertain to this. You might reiterate what family surnames you are searching and what areas you might need help with.

FORUM
A forum is a publication format wherein discussions by users are started on various topics. This post that you are reading is a part of a forum/discussion which I started in order to explain the publication features on MIH. If you are a member of MIH, you may sign in and add to this topic with a question or maybe ideas on how to use these features effectively. You may start a whole new forum topic if you wish... as long as it pertains to Indiana and its history.

PAGE
This is where it gets exciting to me, and was a large part of why Brad & I were working so hard on re-making MyIndianaHome.net this past year. It hasn't been easy for me to learn, but this feature makes it so users can submit their own data without having to wait on me to upload the information. I do ask that you type which Indiana county your data is referring to however. Title example: "Jefferson County: Jeremiah Sullivan"

COMMENTS
The Comment feature is made available when I add a comment link for users. When the link is added users may add an addendum to an existing records page. If you do not see a comment link, send me an email with the page address and I will add the comment section. Then you can add an addendum to that record page. For instance, burials have been added to some of the cemeteries by users/members of MIH.

** Be sure to check the link on the left hand side of the page "Recent Posts" This is where you can keep track of what is new to the website. Just click on the link and it will take you there.
