Madison's Courthouse

We just returned from Richmond, Virginia last night where our son was married on May 16th. We soon learned about the fire damage to Madison's courthouse. I imagine you felt the same as I did. The fire destroyed the roof, rafters and cupula. I know this will be rebuilt, because this is who the people of Madison are. Even though the fire did not get to the first or second floors, the water used to put out the fire may have damaged the record books. Some of the books had previously been moved to the basement where afterwards about three feet of water stood. A friend of mine gave me hope in that the books were being transported from the courthouse to be sent through a process known as freeze-drying.
