I have been able to trace my father's family back to James B Jenkins Sr in Madison, Jefferson, Indiana. But have not been able to find out who his parents are. I live in Virginia so do not have access to the Jefferson County Records very often. My husband and I were blessed to find newspaper articles at the Madison Public Library that helped flesh out some of the family. My father, Hollie Otheneal Jenkins was raised by his maternal grandparents and had very little contact with his father's side of the family. I have been told that he had many half-brothers and half-sisters but have not been able to find any documentation of that. His father was Hollie Autheneal Jenkins, son of Clemson Clarence Jenkins, son of John William Jenkins, son of James B Jenkins Sr. When we were there several years ago, we found references to two James B Jenkins'. One was African-American and one was Caucasian. Is there anyone out there who can help me clear up this mess? I would be willing to do some research here in Franklin County, Virginia for anyone who needs it.
